Third epigraph

Each Amazon spirit is different, with its own strengths and weaknesses, depending on the original Amazon it was ripped out from. The Link connects the future Huntress with the spirit that has the closest characteristics with her own personal inner makeup. Since each Linked period augments the spirit, the increase in abilities the Huntress receives is greater each time a new Link is created.

Happy holidays

I want to wish everybody happy holidays, no matter what name they might have.

To celebrate, we have a photo of my son and one from the park close to where I grew up.

Second epigraph

Monday – Kung fu, Tuesday – Taekwondo, Wednesday – Kendo, Thursday – Krav Maga, Friday – working out at the gym,  and during the weekend – the shooting range, basketball, swimming, and running. This weekly program that she only veered from at most four weeks a year is what helped shape Kia into the Huntress she was to become.

I'm still here...

The time came, the time passed and, as predicted (and despite what was "foretold"), nothing happened. No zombies rose from their graves, no hordes of vampires suddenly realized they were immune to sunlight and/or fire to swoop down on the unsuspecting populace and suck them dry. Aliens, earthquakes, gods, floods, and all the plethora of disasters natural and un-, failed to make their presence felt.

What did happen was that people died. There are rebellions, revolts, civil wars, accidents, murders, old age, disease, and a whole lot of other things that make the world as we know it end...one person at a time. Then again today a new generation was born.

I'm not trying to minimize the emotional investment of the people that believed with every bone in their body that the Mayans were correct in their countdown until their own personal 'big it'. I'm furious with all the doom-sayers, quacks, charlatans, pseudo-scientists, and complete idiots that have turned what was supposed to be a transition form one era to the next for one people into a money-making, panic-inducing, and utterly disgusting fiasco.

Enough about that, though. I hope you had a good day, and an even better weekend.

First epigraph

Laura Vrock told me that becoming Linked is like falling in love for the first time: you feel butterflies in your stomach, the world seems brighter, you can’t stop smiling, and you have an overwhelming feeling of ‘right’.
